Hi all, I just want to upgraded from my current Sandybridge i7 2700k @ 4.8GHz to this new pc built with no more than £1,000 max to spend. Do u think it worth it to upgrading from Sandybridge to Coffee Lake?

I don't need HDD, SSD, Power Supply and Tower Case as I already got it.

Here is my built spec below:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £991.46 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Also which of these two boards are best for overclocking easily as both are same price at £229.99?

Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 Intel Z370 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Asus ROG Maximus X Hero Intel Z370 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard

Well, depends on what you want as to whether it's worth it.

With the 8C/16T Coffee Lake coming not too far away (and Ryzen 2 next year?), if you don't need to upgrade now is it worth waiting?

I went from SB to Ryzen+ not long ago, but only because my kids wanted PCs to so I wanted to cannibalise mine (also I'm kind of gambling on Ryzen 2 and being able to drop a great CPU into my rig next year... :))

If everything you want is working okay for you, might be worth waiting until Autumn? (Yeah, there's always something to wait for, but the CL chips aren't very far away and Z370 is looking like a dead-end platform?)

Thanks, maybe I hold off for a while for new 8C/16T Coffee Lake as I wasn't aware of this. But hold on...Clocked at 2.60 GHz Base Clock :(
I don't see a reason for this 8 Core CPU?
