Help guys I'm well out of touch when it comes to hardware these days.

I've come in to a little money and want to spend about £300-350 on upgrades for my rig. Current spec is in my signature. I would like to make the move to Intel i5 as I have been an AMD whore for far too long (Since slot A days), I'm not in to clocking any more just looking for bang for buck.

I mostly play Battlefield 4 and the odd bit of Payday2 so my current GFX card will be fine as will my PSU. Just looking to upgrade CPU, Motherboard RAM and hopefully SSD.

So £300-350 CPU, Motherboard, RAM and possibly SSD (256Gb)

What can you come up with?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £185.99
1 x SK Hynix 256GB SSD SH910A SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (HFS256G32MNB-2201A) £84.98
1 x Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £61.99
1 x Raijintek Aidos Direct Contact CPU Cooler - Black £14.99
Total : £360.85 (includes shipping : £10.75).

You can re use your RAM.

But I think you might be better off upgrading the GFX card instead and maybe overclocking your CPU or swapping it out for a six core 6300.

Thanks Stulid, I'm hoping to get an R9 290x from the wife for my birthday in June (or something around that price range) and the RAM is 4x2GB dimms, was hoping to go 2x4GB so I can add more later on.

On the other hand if your wife is going to buy you a nice new GFX card anyway, then as thats the more important bit for modern games, then the CPU/board/SSD update will be good.

What PSU do you have anyway?

Why do you need more than 8GB? as that is still fine for a gaming rig.
