First time I posted this it does not seem to have worked and I missed some things off so this is a edit repost.

Hi all a friend of mine pointed me to these forums as a good place for advice with up grading and stuff so I hope am in the right place :).

The main thing I need help with is choosing a motherboard as I already have processor, ram and graphics card.

The processor I have is AMD FX-8 Eight Core 8120@8150 Black Edition 3.60Ghz the ram is G.Skill 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory and my graphics card isHD5570 2GB PCI-E

My current board and processor is QUAD CORE AM3 Athlon™II X4 ASUS Board

I will be upgrading my graphics card soon after the build to one of the ATI 7000 series don't know if that matters (I am also up for suggestions on a good card in the sub £240 price range)

So what I need to know is what board is best for my current hardware and that will allow me to overclock my processor to the 3.6ghz that it is advertised as being able to be done.

I have found 1 board I do like the look Asus Sabertooth 990FX of but I believe it has more on it than I actually need but it has been a while since I have bought motherboard and processors separate I normally get them as a combo.

Other things I would be looking for in a board want sata 3 for fast ssd's and be able to take a ATI 7000 series. (or what ever is recommended by the masses :))

I would also like to know if the stock fan and heat sink that came with my new 8 core is able to run at it's intended overclocked speed.

Thanks for any help.

Althire.

Cool thanks for that but what I was also thinking is there any cheaper boards that I could get I know the sabertooth is not that expensive but it just seems like the price on it is for the extra stuff you get that I wont be needing.

As said earlier not bought a board for a while so am not exactly sure what is needed now days too lol.

I have also seen this board Asus M5A99X EVO 990X which is cheaper than the sabertooth and seems to have everything it has I must be missing something lol

I was also looking for some advice on how to overclock the 8120 to the 8150 or should I go higher than 3.6ghz anyone with experience with this chip?

I have decided to go with the radeon HD 7850 OC GPU with a 1000mhz core clock and 4900mhz memory clock would this be good for the setup?

I see from your sig you have the msi 7850 I was looking at the VTX3D 7850 I am lost to why there is so many different models of the 7850 and which one do you go for?

The case I was looking at was CiT Vantage Midi Mesh and PSU was Ace 700W Black PSU with 12cm, I was not looking for an SSD was just looking for a board to support 6gb sata 3 SSD's but thanks for the link like that one and a good price :).

I would not touch that PSU with a barge pole.

Do not skimp on the PSU when specing a system.

Go with OCZ, Corsair, Antec, XFX or BEQuiet.

I do like that case but it only has one fan compared to the one I was looking at had 4 just thought it would keep it cooler but am not sure now.

Ok then for the power supply I will be getting the asus sabertooth board I have a FX8120 planning to overclock to FX8150 processor 16gb ram sata HDD and a sata optical drive looking at getting a HD7850 but currently have a HD5570 what power supply would I be looking at for my needs. Will also be adding an SSD in a few weeks.

Also does any one have any experience with overclocking the FX8120 as I have heard some people say all you need to do is change the multiplier and others say to change the voltage :S.

Don't need cross fire only ever going to be using 1 GPU for at least the next year don't need that much umfh at the moment I mainly game in MMO's so they are not really taxing I do dable with other games that's why I was building a new system that will keep me going for at least 18 months
