Upgrading an aging FX6300 system for gaming.

Hi lads.
I've an FX 6300 (@4.3) based system in the house which is desperately in need of an upgrade. It's housed in a modified Antec 900 case with an RX 480, 2 SSD's and a Corsair cx750m PSU. It's really showing it's age now in games, so I want to grab an Intel CPU, MB and DDR4 ram to match up with the RX.
I play FPS games and Sports titles (got the demo of Fifa 18 and it ran like a dog. COD WW2 is also headache inducing at 1080p).

Seen a great deal that matches my current budget (new baby, max €450). I just want to know if the improvements I see will be worth it.

ASUS H110M-A/M.2
Core i5 7600
16GB 2133Mhz DDR4 RAM

Comes in at €450 delivered.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks.
Why would you say Ryzen though? It's for gaming only, no video editing etc...

Everything I've seen over the past few years shows the intel chips beating AMD when it comes to gaming.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £445.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

or

My basket at Overclockers UK:

if ryzen too much then ditch the 16gb for 8GB. Plenty of videos to show how much ryzen mashes FX chips, could even go ryzen 1400 or 2400G chip!

intel, added the cooler as intel stock ones are just aweful compared to stock amd ones.
all 6 cores boost to 3.8ghz and 2 cores 4.3ghz . Still edges out ryzen with gaming at 1080p due to better IPC design

The first basket comes in at over €500, the 2nd one is €480 and I end up with less for my money than the deal I found?

as i said, drop to 8GB to save cash

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £355.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

£390 and rivals older i5 7600k chip as competes well with intels current coffee lake 6 core chips

and with the intel, for extra 30 Euro, Your getting 2 extra cores, so 6 Cores running at 4.3Ghz vs i5 7600 4 cores running 4.1Ghz ... whilst theres is little difference between 3000/3200 for gaming- is a a good 5-6 fps jump min from the 2133hz listed- i bet the CL timing isn't great either

You're best off going with one of the suggested CPUs as they will provide greater longevity than the 4 core 4 thread i5 7600, which may be cheaper today but it will struggle in the long run.

i wouldn't touch any intel 7-series cpu when ryzen is freely available, and for cheaper too...

I'm conflicted now.
The i5 has been the go to chip for gaming for so long... Always coming out on top. Now I'm being told Ryzen is the way forward.
why conflicted? technology changes, the 7 series i5 that you mentioned isn't so great anymore.
for your budget, ryzen 5 is the way forward...

8400 + cheapest board + decent cooler to keep boost clocks up = ~£80 more expensive than 1600 + decent board
and also 6c6t on the 8400 vs 6c12t on the ryzen.
decisions, decisions...
(i'd get the ryzen build. the only intel chip that makes sense currently is the 8700k imo)

True, £80 is step from expensive 8GB to more expensive 16GB. Though running both chips side by side with Vega and 1070ti, 8400 comes out in top, but value and lifespan - Ryzen . If intel priced it lower and got H370 at launch, would have been damn good ! Least they are getting on track ... Ryzen + should be a nice boot to get their act together to match zen2 :)

Now... Which damn board to buy?
I've been building with Asus boards for years now and never had an issue. Checked tons of reviews online from verified purchasers of the keenly priced Gigabyte boards and they seem to be a bit of a nightmare? I'd be nervous of switching to them if I'm honest.

Just browse mother board section to see any related gigabyte post and you'll normally see the Rep sorting it out. No others currently do that or have UK RMA .
But Asus boards are just as solid, Strix and Gaming 3 on here are DACs for budget choice and match the higher ends boards just fine . Also bios is nicer in my view , others say ASRock just tops it .
Browse comes of the budget threads, spec threads and Mobo section. Have a look at some builds using Google .
End of the day, we can only go so far and not try to shove a product in your pocket :)
Ryzen system will do you feel :) and boards are much better then z370- heck H370 has more features and that's meant to be a lower tier chipset haha
