so currently my mobo is GA-H270M-DS3H. im planning to upgrade cpu to i7-7700k. will my mobo be good or could it coz cpu underperform in some way since its budget mobo ?

I’d have thought it’d be okay, though on the limit of what your MoBo can support (4 cores/8 threads). Have you considered an i5-8400 instead of the i7-7700? The new gen i5 outperforms the 7th gen i7 but you would need to change your MoBo for the i5

Your GA-H270M-DS3H will support the i7-7700 but it won’t support the i5-8400. For the i5 you’d need a z370 MoBo. Is that what you meant?

it states clearly in first post that im talking about 7700k ;p so will my mother board be good enough for this cpu ? or should i consider changing ?

You’re right! Sorry I missed that when I first read it. Yeah, your MoBo is good enough for it so you may as well keep it. Sorry for the confusion I caused haha

its ok. 1 more question. what amount of gain can be achieved after overclocking 7700k ? lets use scale from that benchmark website. if it has 12000 as standart waht can be achieved after oc ?

7700 boost clock is 4.2ghz. 7700k can be overclocked to 4.7/4.8 (4.9-5.x if you win the chip lottery and have good cooling)
However to overclock the 7700k you need a z170/z270 chipset, not the h-series chipset that you have.
How much is that 500-700mhz worth to you, only u can answer

If you going to buy a new CPU and a new motherboard then you need to go to the newer gen stuff. if costs the same as last gen but is massively better

well i dont want to spend more than 300 pounds, i can get 7700k (250pounds) that fits my mobo. and some ncesary cooling which isnt that expensive i guess ? would i be better off with some other stuff for 300 ?
