upgrading cpu. should i change mobo as well?

currently im using g4560 cpu

to be fair for the cost of a 7700k you can get a ryzen build, if you sell you motherboard you can get coffee lake. i would not personally do the 7700k.
That said the 7700k will be a VERY big upgrade over the g4560 you have right now.

surely i can have that setup for ~160 ? im sure i can sell my cpu for 40-50 and similiar to board. what do you think ?
i dont think you'll get £80 for both board and chip, but no harm trying :)

you your should get that sort od cash for both. tamzzy you have to remember the G chips are now 2core 4thread and they get good cash like the old i3 did.

i would go with an ryzen 1600 or i3 8100 build

maybe the board can fetch @koczan1 's intended price, but the g4560 is £50 new though :X

mm yes last time i looked it was out od stock every wear and going to double on a famous auction site, anyways stop talking about used parts as thet sort of talk is a big nono on here, lets not get banned for a week.
**i didnt talk about any prices and didnt send anyone to buy used parts**

yeah but these games were compared in same game settings and same hardware and difference wasnt worth spending 250 quids. on the other hand some guy commentw that his incrase in performance was insane and im condused

you haven't told us the rest of your system specs, is what i'm getting at.
clearly if you're running a gtx560 graphics card from 7 years ago with your 4560, then upgrading to a 7700/k is pointless.

with the gtx1060 @ 1080p, its the minimum fps that'll be suffering more. getting a better cpu might not increase the avg fps by much, but will allow for a smoother experience

Why an earth would you get a Ryzen 1600 and go through the hassle of a total platform change when you can just drop a 7700 in there with zero hassle and also get better gaming performance.

Just get the 7700 or 7700K. It's not true to say there's no benefit to the 7700K if you can't overclock as the base and boost clocks are higher than the normal 7700.

You can use the 7700/K with the same cooler as comes with the G4560 though temps will probably run very hot (it's a hot CPU).

Might be better idea to get a 6700 or 6700K. They run much cooler and have very similar performance.

Also, a G4560 is a good CPU for e-sports titles but it's really bad for CPU intensive titles. So in something like BF1 online 64p you would go from drops to 25-30fps to a rock solid 60fps at all times.

An i7-7700 or i7-6700 (or K models) is a good match for a GTX1060 6GB or above.

how much would i need to spend for sufficinet cooling for 7700k ? to keep resonable temp
