hi guys,

I made the jump into W/C last xmas and want to add to it.

My question is can my pump cope with the proposed upgrades below or will i require a pump top on the tube res?

I want to upgrade to allow me to add in a W/C 7970 or 680 unsure which yet.

existing:
Laing 18W DDC-Pump 12V DDC-1T Plus
Hardware Labs Black ICE Radiator SR1 240
XSPC Single 5.25” Bay Reservoir - Multi Fascia

Proposed upgrades:
Bitspower Z-Multi 250mm Water Tank
Hardware Labs Black ICE Radiator GT Xtreme 120

Thanks in advance :)

What case do you have?
Is your pump still with the stock top? If so adding an aftermarket top will increase the performance BIG time! It will be on par with a D5 on setting 5(but louder & hotter :))

the RES you have mentioned is a standard tube RES, I don't know of a pump top that will fix the DDC pump to that! But you can always use tubing and fittings to connect the RES to the pump.
That bitspower RES has 3 inlets/outlets in the bottom and 1 inlet/outlet at the top(mostly used as a fill port)

Ok couple of things are not making sense in the above post!
First : that link is to the D5 PUMP mod kit! It is not for a RES, it will not fit for your DDC pump. I have no idea why OCUK have listed it under pump tops but that is a pump BODY mod kit.
I have the chrome one, and you will need to change the pump to a D5(mcp655) and get the proper top to use that body mod kit! (if you do, get the G1/4 thread one, otherwise you will have to use thread converters)

So for your DDC 18W pump these are the tops

Almost any of the above tops will give boost in performance because of the placement of the inlet and outlet(mostly inlet). If yo keep the RES right above the inlet you will gain the most out of it(either by directly attaching the RES with male to male fitting(s) or using straight tubing)

Having 2 pumps is ok.
Some will need the extra power and some the added redundancy etc, but your loop will be more than happy with just 1 x 18w DDC!

ok cool, so its looking like im gonna add a new top to my existing pump, I got a little confused during all the browsing :-S hence the dodgy link.

What would the best 120 rad to add to my loop? as I want a good blend of performance and the quitest experience possible.

Since you already have a SR1 240, I would get a SR1 120.
But almost any RAD with 9-13 FPI would allow you to run the fans at lower rpm to get some decent temps.
Do you not have space for 240mm RAD instead of 120mm?(I must say I don't know much about your case)
