Im planning to upgrade my HD 5770 to either a HD6850 or the HD6950

i was wondering if the 6950 is worth the extra £50, i am currently running with 4Gb DDR3, 3.2Ghz AMD 955 (Quad) and a 600W PSU.

I'm also slightly worried that either cards will fit in my case..

Thanks in advance for any advice.

i'd go for the 6950 tbh its got 2gb vram instead of 1gb and it (i think) can still be unlocked to a 6970

edit - they will both fit in your case

The 6950 is about 20-35% quicker than a 6850 at least, depending on game & resolution, so I'd say it's worth the extra £££'s.

I went from a 5770 to a 6850 and performance is better. The 6850 is not far off the 5850 perofrmance wise and my Asus one overclocks nicely and runs cool. However, if I ahd the choice right now again I would go for the Asus 6950. Run it at stock bios with an oc and in the future flash it to the 6970 unlocked shaders bios.

Also, I have roughly the same spec as you if that helps. 965/4gb ram/ 650w psu etc

Edit: also depends what rez you are gaming at too.
