I picked up a cheap 7770 a few months ago when my old 8800 ultra died and I'm looking to upgrade a bit. I'm only running a phenom x4 965 at 4GHz right now but I might upgrade to a 8350 at some point in the future so looking to get a graphics card to match.

I'm looking at spending around £150-170 so I'm basically trying to decide between nvidia 660 or Ati 7870's. I hear the 7870's are a fraction better and seem to be slightly cheaper as well.

currently looking at these to cards

found the sapphire for around £150 and just wondering if there's really any difference between the two? or if it would be worth trying to pick up a more powerful 2nd hand card like a 7950?

also what kinda of price do you think I could get for a 3 month old 7770 on fleabay?

Or do you think it's worth holding of for a bit and grabbing a 7950 for £60-70 more or maybe a 7970? I should also mention I only have a 600w corsair psu So I'm not looking to crossfire which ever card I buy

The Sapphire is a bit more 'fancy' than that MSI, but there is no fundamental difference between them.

The 7870 is a huge upgrade from the 7770, like 70%, the 7950 is another 30% on top of that.

Personally I would try save up for a 7950, it will last you longer.

Alternatively get a 7870 XT, which is a cut down version of a 7950. Cheapest one I can see on OcUK though is this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-013-VX&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=411

As for how much you can get for the 7770, unfortunately it's against the rules to say second hand prices outside of the members market.

Yeah, as I said here

Not unless you can tell us anything?

This one is by far the best bang for £
VTX3D HD 7870 Black Boost Edition ~£180 (1536 stream processors)
It does not have the best cooler on it, a little more noisy and a little warmer than other more expensive ones, but honestly the thing is faster than a GTX 660TI.
I have one myself :)

MSI HD 7870 Black Knight 2048MB GDDR5 £160 (1280 stream processors)
Not as fast as the one above, but still a fast card (a bit faster than the GTX 660) and unbeatable for its money.

Alternatively.

KFA2 GeForce GTX 660 2048MB £170

The 7870 Xt's look pretty interesting to me, a nice little medium between the regular 7870's and a 7950. Think I'm going to be grabbing myself one of those for sure, after running a 8800 ultra for years the idea of running a big hot noisy card doesn't really bother me ;)

thanks for the help guys

It'll be enough to power any single card though so would be fine with a 7870 xt or 7950.

Saying that.. any 600w psu should have more pci connectors , my 500w has 4. (although it did cost 120 pounds :o)

yeah my previous modular could have up to 4 as well, just got a bit caught out with this one. guess I could always use the standard 4pin molar to 6pin pci leads but I wouldn't really want to do that. Lots of the games I play right now don't even have good multi gpu support anyway so I'm not that concerned
