Upgrading from a 17", what to do?

Hey all,

So I'm considering upgrading from my trusty old 17" monitor that I've had for years since I've suddenly realised how small it actually is and how cheap larger monitors are. This may come as part of a larger PC upgrade I'm considering at the moment (since I figure I might need a better graphics card, for one thing), but looking at the monitors available, I haven't a clue what's the best. I've been lurking in this forum for a while, but I'm still none the wiser for the <£200 models.

So, in short, given ~£120-150, what's the best monitor available for gaming, web use, and maybe some movies? Essentially, I just want to make sure I'm getting a good deal, I'm not in search of monitor nirvana, so take the brief with a pinch of salt.

I'm liking the following:

Then to be honest, I've no idea of the differences between the 24" models from BenQ, IIyama, Samsung and Asus in the ~£140-150 price range. They all look basically the same spec-wise, other than a few minor differences.

At the moment, I'm leaning towards the 21.5" BenQ as first choice with the 24" OcUK one in second place Although the idea of the extra screen size does appeal to me, I'm just not sure how good the monitor can be when it's at least £30 cheaper than almost all other 24" monitors.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Steven

Update: going to go for the Samsung S24, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-174-SA, since I can't tell the difference between any and the monitor physically looks quite stylish. My only concern is whether the 'gloss black' in the description refers to the bezel or the screen itself. I'm assuming it's the bezel (hence the 'black'), but a gloss screen would be a bit inconvenient since I sit with my back to a window which the sun shines right through, so I hope it's not glossy.

Do not worry it is just the bezel that is glossy and I can see from the pictures that the screen has an anti-glare coating which is ideal if the monitor is facing a window. Going from an old 17" to a 24" is going to look fantastic when you first switch it on. Most monitors usually need to have the brightness turned down a bit as the settings out of the box are pretty over the top.

Enjoy

Hah, I like that you can tell from the pictures alone what I've been searching for all over the internet! Clearly I'm not up to speed with monitors yet. Good to know though, thanks. :)
