Morning all.

A friend of mine is looking to upgrade his 270X for better performance at 1080P/60. Having run a few games with Afterburner, he's maxing his GPU out in most instances whilst his CPU (FX-8230) sits at 50-70% At present, he doesn't have a G-Sync/Freesync panel so he isn't tied to either brand.

I've looked through a few reviews and, outside of a second hand 970, it looks like a choice between a 480 (8GB) or a 1060 (6GB).

What do you suggest?

Thanks.

Looking at how quickly the RX480 has picked up in DX11 with current drivers and is now overtaking the 1060 I would go with the 480. Plus the fact that the 480 shows more promise for DX12/Vulcan in the future.

I would also go for one of the XFX versions of the 480 as they are reputed to be one of the best incarnations of this chip.
:)

honestly I'd go with 480 - driver support put it equal now to 1060 in DX 11 and faster in DX 12.......it will only get better also as time goes on compared to the 1060.....
