upgrading from a e6600

378x8 for 3.4ghz here bit too much volts 1.45v but temps are still very good 30c idle / 48c load.

this is on a nvidia motherboard so not the best overclocker but still pretty decent in my eyes. 3.4ghz E6600 and my G92 GTS 'overclocked still is capable of running most of the latest games at 1920x1200 aswell. i can just about get 3.6ghz but thats right on my limit and not 100% stable.

i will be looking for an upgrade myself after i upgrade my graphics card to a GTX275 or similar. Probably a E8500 to get 4ghz or just a Q9550 for the quadcore goodness :)

still a very capable cpu ;)

should i change my multiplier to 9 to get 3.6ghz?

cant get into windows at 3.6 9x400

can at 8x425 3.4
temps
idle 33,28

load 48,50

That is pretty much exactly what I have been running for the past year and a half. Mines under a Tuniq and its been faultless. I have been tempted by a quad, but tbh, Im just picking faults (Want more SupCom/FA powah!).

Im happy with mine, its still more than capable.

I couldnt get mine to boot at 9*400 so I dropped the multi and clocked it higher. I cant get mine any further without stupid volts.

Games wise, a Conroe running at 3.2+ won't fall far short of the latest stuff out there.

My current rig destroys anything at 1080p (not bad for a 3 yr old mobo!). I'm waiting till after the summer for upgrades ;)

What vcore are you trying with now? Which version is your E6600 (CPU-z will tell you)? There are two and from my experience the SL9ZL is a better clocker with less volts. It may be the case that you need a little more voltage on the vcore. Have you increased FSB termination and CPU PLL voltages yet? Don't go mad on them and only increase them a couple of notches.

v core is 1.425 im quite happy with 3.4 dont wont to push my luck lol.

cpu is stepping b revison 6,cant find (SL9ZL) were it says that m8.

the core multiplier keeps going up and down 6x then 8x.in cpu-z so the front side bus????

now ive got it upto 3.4 with a few tweaks would it better to put it back to 3gig with now tweaks ????

Nah, leave it running at 3.4, no point in downclocking it once its stable. Oh, and you have SpeedStep turned on so it reduces the multiplier when idle. Personally I think it makes things lag.

Just a quick question of my own,
I can clock my own e6600 upto 3.2 and even upto 3.4, only problem is though it gets hot and the artic cooler makes a fair bit of noise keeping it cool drowning out the other fans!
Im assuming this is just a natural side effect of a CPU thats clockes 50% on top of stock?

I had one that wouldn't do 3.6. I wouldn't worry, 3.4 is more than enough.
