Hi all,

I currently have a single XFX 6800 Ultra PCI E on a SLi mobo, would the following be a good upgrade: Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ULTIMATE SILENT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail. I've heard a lot about these cards and they seem to have a lot of favourable reviews from respectable mags etc.

How much faster will this card be?

Cheers

It'll be quite a lot faster. I went from (essentially) an X850XTPE to an X1800XT and I was blown away, the X1950Pro is about as fast as an X1800XT but the jump going from a 6800Ultra is a bit bigger.

Go for it, you won't be disappointed. :)

Not sure about comparison, but I'd choose the HIS Turbo over the Sapphire Ultimate. ;)
I also agree with this. ;)

Agree with the above, but not about the HIS, loads of problems geting the PCI-E power connectors in em, ppl are having to file em down etc... as they wont go in, so id get the Saffy. :)

I really should order one soon, but I cant afford too until I find out if I'm successful about a job I went for an interview for on Tuesday. :o

Maybe I'll risk it. :D

Which has been generally voted the best X1950? Am i better off getting the HIS 512 meg card with options like HDTV etc? would be cool to use my pc on my 42" LCD

Personally I don't think the 512mb is worth the extra money for the small performance increase over the 256mb.

But if you think you'd benefit from 512mb (for larger resolutions), then by all means. :)
