Upgrading from AMD R390

As everyone has said, keep hold of you 390 for the time being unless you want to pay 2 x RRP for literally anything.

I upgraded from a R9 390 to a RTX 3070 FE. Really pleased, got more than 3 times the FPS at 4K on the Witcher 3 (around 70 FPS minimum). DLSS 4K works very well.

Worth it if you can get it at RRP, and have some cash to spare. Or, you could wait until next year to get a similar graphics card with more VRAM.

What worked for me was buying via a discord alert.

That's decent.

My brother tried to get me an FE not long ago but it got blocked as he already one from them.

So I've gotten myself onto twitter, awaiting for the next drop.

I went from a 290X 8GB to a FuryX and it was a nice bump, think it was ~25% in older stuff and more in newer stuff. My 480 8GB is almost the same performance as my FuryX @1080p and uses 1/2 the power. Its a sad situation when its so expensive to get an exceptable upgrade from such an old card.

Things are slowly getting back to normal, try local sales pages as i've seen a 1060 go for 200, so not everyone is scalping.
