Hey,
Looking for advice on upgrading from my R9 290x 8gb
Recently upgraded everything else (ryzen 5 1600, 16g ram, screen with 1440 res)

But the card is struggling, shows as constantly at 100% use, and hitting 90 degrees easily, so im having to under clock a little now, even tried reapplying thermal pastes. just always 100% and hot while gaming.
And some games framerate struggle at such his res.

My budget will be around £150/£200 + whatever the r9 sells for (£130 maybe?)

What can i get for that these days, second hand is also acceptable.

Cheers

No upgrades within your budget am afraid.

Edit. Missed that it is 150-200 + whatever you get for your old gpu.
As mentioned by others GTX 1070 is your best bet.

You need to increase your budget if you want something worth while. I went from a 290 to Vega 64, worth it. Temp had a 1070 and 1080 but those went in my other computers.

Yea...the 290 series is probably the best bang for bunks card that really lasted; the progression of graphic card performance at the sub £450 price bracket in FOUR YEARS is extremely disappointing.

Same boat, I have the 290, would like to upgrade to play at 4k and improve the graphics on VR. But there’s nothing worth upgrading too, I won’t pay anymore than the £320 I paid for the r9 290 for GPU, and after 4 YEARS there’s nothing on the market that blows the 290 away in the same price bracket, that’s poor.

Edit:I may stretch my budget after all, i am interested in the 1070ti, seem to run the 1080 close in benchmarks
