First post so go easy on me!

I'm upgrading from Intel to AMD, CPU will be the Ryzen 9 5900X too pair with my new Rog Strix x570-e MOBO, I've been reading up a lot on which RAM I should upgrade to, as im currently using a DDR4-3000MHZ 4 stick kit. I'm looking for a 32gb (2x16gb) kit.

Lots of places seem to have differing opinions on which sticks are better, which speeds are better and which CL timing i want, so im a bit confused, i know that I ideally want a high speed stick with as low CL timing as possible, but after that im confused.

Does anybody have any recommendations in which I should take a look at that is available on the market now? If it makes a difference, I will be gaming/streaming with this build on 1 PC.

My build will be:
MOBO Asus Rog Strix x570-e
CPU Ryzen 9 5900x
RAM ???
GPU Gigabyte 3080 Gaming OC
PSU RM850

If any further info is need, I'll be more than happy to provide!
Thanks!

Optimsl memory speed for ryzen is 3600mhz which is the sweet spot for performance.

Then you have timings the tighter (lower) the timmings the faster the memory but its not a great boost in performance to cos, it will add a few more fps.

Cost should also be taken into consideration faster memery can often be much more expensive .

32gb of 3600mhz can be had for £150 and memory with tighter timmings can be up to double the cost

You could reuse your 3000mhz ram.

You will need a cooler for the 5900x.

Sorry I forgot to mention I have a H115i PRO RGB for my 5900x.
I've heard that certain sticks are better because of the dies they run? I've seen the crucial ballistix sticks and i think they're Bdie? but im not 100%.
Thanks for your advice, I've taken a look at the patriot sticks, are they CL16 or CL18?
Thanks

18.

There is also dual rank v single rank memory Google it to get a more detailed explanation.

Suggest you look at the relevant motherboard vendors site and see what memory they recommend to support your new motherboard.

Or check descriptions and look for Ryzen compatible. G Skill Do Trident Neo for Ryzen I believe. Looks great.

Or the tried and tested Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB. I did a B550 build with a 5800x AMD Zen 3 CPU with four sticks of that RAM, it worked great. However it looks like RAM prices have shot up for Corsair.

These Crucial sticks (BL2K16G36C16U4RL) are cl16 32gb, but it doesnt say if they are dual or single rank? ************ seems to think they're a good set for my build , but im hoping it's dual rank?

No sense to pay high money from brand overhype Asus X570 boards with the worst design chipset coolers from rear hole of marketing:
- Actual heatsink under marketing excrements is small.
- And pretty much relies on constant airflow from constantly running fan... Constricted by more BS.
- With whole crud in the worst possible place directly under graphics card to be bathed in its heat.
Put there that 300+W heater and chipset will be running really warm in gaming sessions. (even more so if room gets warm)
And should be easy to guess what happens if/when fan wears out.

MSI X570 Tomahawk is completely superior design with chipset cooler, whose fan is unlikely to run ever if case cooling works.

That's been very long time brand and Ridiculously Grossly Bloated overpriced.
Timings are slower than in £90 cheaper Patriot!
(Corsair is 18-22-22-42)
So Corsair basically picks very mediocre DRAM chips and than brand and RGB overprices them.

Those are probably single rank.
Micron rev.E chips go above 8Gbit and 2048Meg x 64 spec hints about 16Gbit chips.

It's Samsung B-die chips which are certain to be dual rank in 16GB DIMMs, because max capacity of the chips is 8Gbit.
But those can be found certainly only from 3200MHz CL14 and 3600MHz 16-16-16 kits.

I'd try overclocking your current ram to 3600mhz first at the very worse if it didn't overclock then you could just run at 3000 till you find something else besides if you're gaming at 4K then ram speed over 3000 will make no difference to fps.
