Upgrading from XPS 420

Hi. I currently have a Dell XPS 420: Q6600, Dell Intel Mobo, 3GB 667Mhz RAM, 8800GT 512MB, 375W Dell PSU, 640GB HDD. I'm confused as how to upgrade.

I could save money by getting a new case, a good socket 775 motherboard and overclocking the Q6600 and buying faster RAM.
Or go for a full upgrade and get an i5 750 + Mobo, new RAM and PSU.

Would the price of the i5 and other components needed be worth it over the cheaper option? Cheers.

Depends on whether or not you need a system with the capabilities that an i5 offer.

I take it it's primarily a gaming system you're after?

Yeah its mostly for gaming. Ive got about £450 to spend.
