Upgrading GPU from 4870

Asus P5Q-pro
4gb kingston DDRs 1066
Powercolor 512mb 4870
520W corsair modular

24" @ 1920*1200

Right now i think i want to upgrade my card. I noticed some stuttering back when i gamed on my PC, im buying dragon age origins and want it maxed out. So i currently have a few options and would like some advice

1: Xfire my card with another 4870
2: buy a 4890
3: buy a 5800 series card

Please can i have some advice on my best course of action

I'm in a similar situation, although thinking of upgrading from a 1GB card.

If you add in another 4870, you will get more GFX power but will still be restricted to the 512MB of your existing card - I would personally opt for a new card with at least 1GB memory for a noticable difference, especially at that res.

To see much difference from you existing card gpu power wise you would probably be looking at a 5850 or 5870 (or equivelant nvidia card). Depends on your budget, whether you want it now or feel you can wait until the next gen/series of cards which may have a greater speed boost.

I would sell your 4870 for £50 - £60, and put it towards a 5850.

Best option in my opinion.

Agree with the above, 5850, just went to one from a 1gb 4870 here, and its quite a bit faster, anywhere form 20 to 40+ frames, and can only get better once its had more drivers, as its only got 1 set so far.
