Low settings are fine, I’ve disabled the majority of items on track and it loses the immersion. So I’m ready to put things up and switch grandstands and environmental items back on. hence the reason I want to upgrade

If you want to stay within your budget and get the best hardware you can, a 2080 Super would seem to be the way to go.
Personally I'd stretch to a Ti at that point, which can be found for under a grand.

But the 2070s is a fine choice too, there's just no real need to pay over £500 for one.

Under the hot sun.
Wow so many replies and help. It’s great to see so many concluding that getting two cards is better than throwing it all into a 2080ti.

I am thinking this now -

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-43h-as.html

and with the £105 off it’s only £545. Thoughts? I can’t see the difference between the 2080 Super and the one above to warrant the price difference.

I will eventually get a higher resolution monitor.

£545 is too much money for a 2070S when you can buy a Powercolor 5700XT dual fan for £399 in UK.
Thats £150 you can invest on other parts of your system, even a better Freesync monitor.

Get a decent 2080 rtx which will be as fast as a 2080super

Someone linked to a zotac extreme amp 2080 Super for £799

Go for the non super extreme amp 2080

It's the highest out of the box 2080 and when overclocked will match any stock 2080 Super

Les than £630 as well

He doesn't understand the Radeon cards which is a shame. He could buy the RX 5700 and flash with RX 5700 XT BIOS.

Spend smart, save a lot and upgrade to something really good.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £718.98 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Is a 5700 flashed to XT really a capable 4k card? I was under the impression that 4k was just a bit too much for it? A very capable 1440p card but doesn't quite have the 4k grunt required

I think I'd want more horsepower if I was going to game at 4k. I suppose it depends on user requirements/games, though.

In your shoes, for VR and performance over time, I'd probably go for a 2070 Super, maybe even up to one of the 'cheaper' 2080 Supers, but no more.

For VR stick with the 2070 Super or above. As good as the 5700XT is for the money, the NVidia cards give better / smoother performance in some games in VR. At an additional cost obviously.

Here's a VR faceoff showing how the 5700 XT compares to a 2070 Super in various games, including Project Cars 2 ( just over halfway down the page ) :

https://babeltechreviews.com/vr-wars-the-rtx-2060-super-vs-the-rx-5700-xt-vs-the-rtx-2070-super/

Since you play rFactor2 in VR, the outcome will be similar to Project Cars 2 as rF2 has always ran better on NV hardware.

I am still rocking a 3770K @ 4.5 and the 2080 gave me a huge boost in DCS world VR and Assetto Corsa Competizione VR over the 970.

Here is the 2080 against the 1080ti after new Nvidia drivers, scroll down for the VR benchmarks.

The 1080 ti is still a great card but I skipped the 10 generation as my 970 was still fine with my 1080p monitor.

go with a 5700 XT over a 2070s. small gains not worth the significant increase in cost. The powercolor red devil is the card to get.

Right. I have just had a go at iRacing and it averaged at 89fps. With my 970. I've also found out that RF2 works really well on high settings with a 2070 super (albeit not on Ultra, but I've been told that you'd probably need 34 2080ti's to do that!)

So, budget wise, I am going to go for the 2070 Super. And after speaking to the wife, she said I can do this again in 3 years. So every 3 years I will just do this.

So, what 2070 Super for about £650 maximum (that's just for budget) would do me the best. I don't want to worry so much about temps. I don't plan to Overclock myself as I have no idea about overclocking.

Dude, a 2070$ is not worth £650 or anything close to that... £500 max! Your call in the end, but if money is not an issue to be wasteful like that, might as well grab a 2080 Ti for £300 or so more? At least you get something for the extra money then no?

Don’t nvidia sell their founder edition for £475 these days? I would get that. That is what I would do.

Me personally I love the FE model and I believe they come with 2 years warranty now at £485 is it? for 1080p I'd pick that up and pair it up with a nice 144hz 1440p Gysnc monitor which a 2070S will drive quite nicely over a few years by which time you can sell the 2070S for £200 ish depending on the market in a few years, spend another few hundreds and get a new card. I couldn't justify £600+ on an architecture over a year old that will most definitely be replaced next year

I've seen reports that many games are even supporting two cards these days. Saying that, I saw the new Tomb Raider get a 40% bump and after a few tweaks BFV had twice the FPS using two 2080ti's.

I wouldn't personally take the risk with two cards if I was in the market now and definitely reach for the 2080ti. I hit the lottery with the 1080ti but that's down to NVidia making a card twice the power of their last release thanks to AMD's false marketing.
