Upgrading GPU On Acer XC-703

I have been asked to upgrade a friend's GPU in order for them to run The Sims 4 a bit smoother. They have an Acer XC-703.

I googled compatible upgrades (this was before I physically saw the computer) and read that the motherboard had a PCI Express slot so got this card: Sapphire 11190-09-20G AMD Radeon HD 6450 Silent 2GB DDR3 Graphics Card (HDMI, DVI-D, VGA, PCI Express 2.0, 64-Bit, Low Profile Bracket, Dolby TrueHD, DTSHD Master Audio Support).

However, this card did not fit. The motherboard looked like a mini ITX board and I had no idea what to do. Even YouTube videos seemed completely different to the actual PC in question.

Can anyone recommend a card for about £40 that will do this task and supply a tutorial for installing it? I'm guessing I'll have to sell this card on the Member's Market or something.

Thanks.

I think that board only has a mini pcie not a pcie so i dont think you will be able to find a gpu for it. I believe mini pcie is only for adding wlan cards and things like that not gpus.

It does look to have a ram slot free though so more ram may help a bit. It looks like a so dimm slot though not standard ddr3.

Looks like a laptop disguised as a desktop. No full PCIe slot means no discrete GPU.

You'll be wanting the 1333mhz DDR3 version of this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/memory/so-dimm

How much RAM does the PC have at the moment though? I don't think it will help much if it's the Celeron J1900 version of that Acer PC, the IGP is the main bottleneck.

EDIT: The main issue is there are different variants of that Acer model, the higher end ones are the one with a full PCIe slot. The lower end one like your friend's is far more stripped down. Ususally there should be a sticker on the PC with the full model number (there will be extra numbers and letters after the XC-703 bit).

She currently has 2GB of RAM.

That model number is just for the psu. Increasing the ram may help a little but probably not much.
