Upgrading Graphics card

Hi all ive currently got the Gainward HD4870 golden sample GFX in my sytem and looking to upgrade.

Bit out of touch on the current market so could do with a bit of advice on what would be best.

I would want to be going above £250 in price.

Advice would be great thanks.

I am not sure if you saying you want to go above £250 is a typo. If its not this card is what you should be looking at.

If you want to stay under £250 then i would be looking at the radeon 5850 cards. You would probably need to wait a little while for stock to come in.

Are there any Nvidia cards out there that offer as much as these ATI cards. I know that the Directx 11 is the next thing now so im guessing that Nvidia will have something to come soon.

nvidia are expected to at least demonstrate their new range by the end of the year, I'm not spending any money until i see how they perform.

then your card is hardly old. I doubt that would struggle to run games @ max at 1280 x 1024 res.

have you got a big screen, running things at higher res?

in that case wait until winter, you get to see nvidia new realease plus hopefully 2gb 5870 sapphire versions!!
