Upgrading help.

Right I'm deciding to get a new motherboard and a new CPU, as my old 1055T at stock is bottlenecking my 7950.

But the bundle consists of:

- i5 4670K @ 4GHZ
- Asus Z87-K
- 4GB Corsair Vengeance LP RAM
- Xigamatek Gaia SD1283


The price for this bundle is £389.99 and it comes Pre-Assembled.

My questions are, is this a good bundle? With the CPU being overclocked, I know it shortens the CPU lifespan but by how much?
I already have 8GB Vengeance Blue in my system which is at 1600MHz, will it be okay to have both in, will there be any conflictions or issues?
I have only read a few reviews on the CPU cooler, but I'm gonna guess and say that it'll fit in my case as I have a Coolmaster Storm Sniper with a HD 7950, but I'll double check for safety.
 
Thing with that is that I'm not a fan of MSI motherboards, I've always had Asus and I've heard bad things about MSI.
 
How difficult is it to attach the CPU to the mobo and then the cooler to the CPU?

I've never done it before so I'm a bit nervous about doing it, incase I bend the mobo or break something, and I don't want to be spending £300+ on something that I'll break and be unable to get a refund.
 
The bundle with come without the cooler fitted, so you might as well do as micky says.
And it`s not to hard to fit.

Cost: £315.88

With the paste for both, should I buy a separate brand or use the paste that's included?

No ram, or are you going to reuse your existing ram?
 
Yeah I have 8GB Vengeance blue's at the minute that aren't that old, think I bought them 4-5 months ago.

I may look at getting another 4GB or 8GB or Vengeance Blue's but there's no need at the minute.

This is the price without a new Operating System which will set me back a fair amount, as I doubt I can use the OS that came with my PC.
 
Yeah I knew it was too old to just upgrade the CPU.

Think I'll throw a spanner in the works, would it be worth considering a 4770K or an AMD equivalent of either the 4670K or 4770K?

Obviously the price of the 4770K is gonna bump it up a bit, but could I not save by going for a cheaper motherboard then the one I'd get for the 4670K?

Ideally I'm looking to spend £350 for a new CPU, mobo and a cooler, non water-cooled.

That to me seems like a good deal, but here is where you say that the cooler won't be good enough or something and crush my dreams :(

Is the 4770K retail or OEM?

Still looks like a good deal. The EVO is a decent cooler and should enable you to get a decent OC.
 
It is retail no sign of OEM in the title name anywhere :)

I just compared it to the prices on here and the difference is £25.16, so near enough a second EVO just in saving.
