Thanks for reading and in anticipation of response.

I am about to order a new hard drive (Seagate 120Gb) to replace the 30Gb currently chock full. I have swapped out many HD's in a desktop but would like advice whether there are additional steps or considerations I should make for a lappy. I have the back-up set of Cd's for the laptop, which should contain all the drivers for the chipset, although I intend to burn the drivers to a seperate CD for insurance.

Any advice gratefully received

Normally swapping a laptop hard disk is very similar to swapping a desktop HDD, in fact it's easier as the drive has a combined power and data connector. The main problem is usually finding the little blighter, depending on the make and model it could be accessible from either edge, the front, the back, the bottom or in the worst case under the keyboard :(

But once you've found it it's usually just a case of sliding out the old one and sliding in the new one.

***IMPORTANT THOUGHT*** Get the old one out of the lappy and measure it, the 120Gb one you have your eye on may be taller than the current disk. It's unlikely but worth checking first.
