Upgrading my current road bike! advice needed

Gators are 50/50, especially with everyone I have spoken too about them.

If you're looking at tires in the £24 each mark, I'd recommend looking for some GP4000's as they're fantastic and have gotten me through the winter + more and have only had 1 puncture thus far (pot hole however) so am very happy with them.

However that does have an impact on budget, especially when a wheelset is only £15 more. :p

I dont know whats the size of the tyres i need?

700c, width I'd say either 25c or 28c. 28s can be good if you often find yourself on poor road surfaces or aren't too concerned about all out max speed. Rubino Pros are pretty popular cheap folding bead tyres.

Seems to be that it's more and more accepted that the wider the tyre, the less the rolling resistance (probably up to a point) - believe quite a few pros are starting to more up towards 28 tyres...

I have them on my Equilibrium, and they're a bit of a revelation if I'm honest - lower pressure, more comfort, and less rolling resistance. Certainly don't feel like they're the thing that's slowing me down :p

Tubes are tubes. Latex are lighter and stronger than butyl but lose pressure more quickly. There's no point spending loads on tubes. The performance savings on the fancy ones are minuscule.
