Hi I was wondering what advice people can give about upgrading my pc. I know how to install most hardware but I don't have a clue about stats. What I'm looking for is how to make my machine a lot quieter and what upgrades it could support in terms of power, cpu, graphics card and cooling.

I hope thats all the info you need. If there is anything else please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hey pal :)

Thanks for the spec list!

Do you have a budget? what do you do with this pc? Gaming? light duties, editing ect?

Edit : also just off the bat, adding an SSD would be the single best upgrade you could do to that system, and im confident everyone on these forums would mirror that suggestion.

Oh sorry, I forgot to put that. Well I use it for gaming and making youtube videos. I always want to get into streaming too but the machine is very load when on max load. As for a budget, id say mid range. I dont have much money but enough to get avoid cheapest options.

For the age of your rig, you may as well do a full upgrade, seems to be ~7 years old...

Sell your old rig and get what you can, to pay towards the new one :)

Here's a £700 idea...

* Latest Ryzen 3600 CPU
* Mobo doesn't need flashing, just need to wait for stock though
* 500gb M2 drive, if you can afford an extra <£50 you could get a 1TB SSD instead
* If you can find one, I'd suggest a used Vega 56 GPU for around same price (£180-190ish) they are approx 30% quicker than a new RX 580

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £707.05 (includes shipping: £13.20)

I can think of tbe below config to upgrade considering you want a quieter system.

Ryzen 5 3600 - 185
Asrock B450m Pro4 (No need for tomahawk for a 6 core 65w processor) - 70
Possibly keep the water cooler
DDR4 3200MHz 2x8gb. Any thing will do. Get cheapest with good warranty. Overclocking only nets you 1fps extra in games. - 70
1tb NVMe drive. Since you do make videos for youtube, you will benefit from a faster NVMe drive. - 120
PSU - Get a 80+ 500W PSU from Corsair or EVGA and you will be fine - £50
Graphics Card - 1660 - Critical as runs nice and quiet compared to Vega 56 which runs hot and loud. Uses significantly less power as well. - 200
Keep the case if you like.
If you want to save money, you can also go for the Ryzen 5 2600 as that is only about 10-15% slower but costs around 120 and is insane value.
