My specs are in my sig and I am very close to buy an xbox one x. I spend most my time on my sofa anyway so the pc is going to waste but im thinking of hooking it up to my TV.

My motherboard is this

I only have 1600mhz ram and I'm wondering whether to upgrade the ram but I have no idea what the O.C means or how do OC ram.

I'm also debating getting a 1070ti or maybe a 980ti used as I only play 1080p

HI,

No need to change the RAM for that CPU, you have 16Gb which is good.

The official JEDEC specs for the RAM for DDR3 was I believe 1333 or 1600MHz so any speed after that is considered an "overclock" even though all you usually have to do is set the XMP profile in the BIOS and save+exit and its "overclocked" or "OC" for you.

As for GFX card either is enough for 1080P so if the GTX980ti is cheaper then grab it. Even a RX580 8GB or GTX1060ti 6GB is fine for 1080P games.

You can drop an i7 4770K or 4790K into that board if you want or need more threads for say streaming while playing.

P.S what games do you play? is the R9 390 really struggling?

The 390 isnt doing bad at all and Im not one of those guys who moans about temps because I'm not in a box room haha.

I think when i tried witcher 3 with super res on to play it at 1440p I was getting maybe 34fps on ultra lol.

Ive barely played any games on PC to be honest I have itchy fingers if anything. But then my missus uses it for netflix so I want a gpu which can screen any games to my tv via 10m hdmi cable, and she can have netflix on my monitor.
