Hi guys
Just joined the forum so I thought I'd say hi and let you all have a look at my system specs....oh, and pick your brains too! ;);)
At the mo I've got an:
OCZ StealthXStream 500w psu (only bought a couple of months ago)
Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 AMD mobo (newly upgraded)
AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4000+ 2.10GHz
Zelams CNPS8700 LED CPu cooler
Corsair 2GB (2+1GB) DDR2 XMS2-5400C4
XFS GeForce 8600GT 256MB

I was going to upgrade the graphics card this month then I found out that my old mobo wouldn't support the card that I wanted so I had to spend my pennies upgrading that first :(:(

Would I be best going ahead and upgrading the graphics card first as I was originally going to? I was thinking of a Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB (GV-NX88T512HP) or one of the ATI 4850 series.
On the other hand should I get a new CPU first? Again I've got a couple of choices. An AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz or an AMD Phenom X3 Tri Core 8450 2.10GHz.

I mainly play ArmA but I'll be looking to play ArmA 2 soon so I wanted to get my system all set up ready. Everything at the mo is set to low, my fps is around 20-30.

Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated :cool:

I want to ask first but what resolution are you playing at? (its the most important bit for deciding how ott you should go with a new card)

ah well the cheapest 8800 or 4850 would easily do more than really well (make sure you wack up all the extras) :)

you might also see an improvement clocking the processor, or replacing it with a faster athlon64 if you have the cash... (phenom isnt supposed to be much of an improvement over the top end athlon64's in gaming...)

Yeah, I wanna bump everything up to its highest setting :cool:
I'm on a limited budget (about £120-£140 for a card) so it looks like I'll go after a decent graphics card instead of a processor. I'll look at getting a new CPU in a few months (after I've bought the missus's birthday pressie!) I have suggested buying her a new CPU for her birthday but she didn't seem very impressed :confused:
