Upgrading my system...

Ok no replies on coolers, so how about a PSU?

Which PSU and what wattage/ampage should I be looking towards? Something that will last a while, with enough headroom for future add-ons (like another gfx card for example)?

TUNIQ TOWER for the cooler

any 850-1000 watt power supply - corsair/enermax/seasonic/thermaltake are all good brands, and its whether you want modular or not

Even 1kw is overkill! As Flinco said, 850w-1000w would be fine, but if you needed to save a bit of cash then even a 620w would be fine on that spec. Still, worth having some headroom for future upgrades.

Tuniq Tower is a good cooler as well, but again if budget becomes a problem then an AC Freezer Pro 7 is a great cooler for the money.

Moving on to a case, I have been looking at the Antec Twelve Hundred Gaming case.

Anything else I should consider ahead of this? I use air cooling, so it has to have plenty of fans.

i have a xonar DX, these cards have issues with games, the DS3D GX.20 feature is incompatible with a lot of games and the driver support is lacking.

i would go with a creative card for games, and a xonar for movies and music. the xonar has better reproduction though according to benchmarks and human ear.

Creative cards have issues with Vista though, so not really an option for me?

Trying to decide between the Xonar DX 7.1 PCI Express, or the Xonar D2X PCI Express.......is it worth the extra £££'s??

I prefer the look of the Antec P182 case, though I am worried that my ATI 4870X2 may not fit easily? Would another fit easily in the future if needed?

Will this be an issue? Would the Antec Twelve Hundred be a better option (also seems to have better cooling?)

I'm getting the Twelve Hundred myself for the same reasons, plenty of room and good cooling. All my other machines I've built in the past I've always gone for cheap and nasty cases. So bloody sharp you could shave with one lol :D

The antec P182's upper hard drive chamber is easilly removed, you can see it here in line with my 8800GT:

So unless you're going to use more than 4 hard drives this wont be a problem (as 4 HDD's can be mounted vertically in the lower chamber like I have).

It's personal choice really, both are good imo. I have a rev 1 G15, and the missus has a rev 1 Saitek - we both love our keyboards :)
