Upgrading on a budget.

yeh you can try just don't let temps go over 60C too much.

In the BIOS settings my multiplier will only go up to 8x, I don't think this is much of an issue though?

What do you think I should OC to on a stock cooler?

Right now at stock it's 333 x 8... Should I try 350 x 8 see how the temps are?

I can just leave RAM settings at auto?

Cheers

Turn the RAM multi down as low as it goes. And just up the bus speed to about 340, run OCCT Linpack for 10 mins if OK keep turning bus speed up until unstable. Also don't let it go over 70*C.

What speed RAM do you have?

Cheers James, will give that a go tomorrow when my PSU arrives.

I also got my GTX260 today which should hopefully be fine for some light games (TF2, Minecraft and Diablo 3)

OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w should run a GTX260 without issue?

Cheers

*edit* Sorry, i didnt realise you have already bought the parts, i should have read further.

I got my GTX260 installed today along with my new PSU.

The card powers up because the fan spins, but my monitor just stays black, can't even get into the bios.

Both 6 pin PCI-e adapters are connected.

I tried it in my brothers PC with my PSU and it worked fine. I tried my brothers 8800GTS in my motherboard and that had the exact same issue...

The mobo is dead?

Try the PSU in your brothers PC with a graphics card to be sure, it could be something to do with the PSU connectors.
