Hi all,
I'm looking to upgrade my computer, so I can play more of the modern games (atm my processor just cant handle them)
But theres too many options, and I'm having a hard time making a decision, so i thought I'd ask whats best to do.
I currently have:
Asterope GL8-E (Full specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...=uk&dlc=en&product=1827311&rule=36345&lang=en )
Intel Celeron 3.06GHz 533 FSB
Radeon X1950Pro 512mb GDDR3
80Gb IDE
2GB (Samsung I think) DDR2 RAM 667
xP 64 bit Home (Not planning on upgrading to Vista)
The only thing I am unaware of, without opening the case, is my PSU, but if anyones willing to look it up (I've tried, but havent found anything yet) its a Compaq Presario
SR1705UK
(If you need any more info just ask)
Ideally, it'd be best if I could keep my motherboard, but after doing a bit of research, its going to be hard to get a decent processor that my mobo can handle, so it looks like I'm going to have to upgrade that. I was originally going to get a Quad core but I'm going to settle for a Dual. I'd like a bit of room to expand my ram with, atm my mobo's maxxed out, and I've noticed that nearly all modern processors have SATA connectors, and not IDE, so if its possible, a mobo with IDE connections would be great, if not, then are the SATA to IDE convertors reliable?
So yeah, basically, I want a new processor, but I've come to realise I'm going to have to replace a few things to get that.
I dont really want to spend anymore than £200 (Heh, I'm only 14
)
But if there are options that go over the budget, I'll consider them
Thanks in advance.
