Upgrading Parts - Need Help!!

ExRayTed, A friend has just recommended me this build for my new pc..
but im wondering if there could be any changes made ? He used Multiple PC Component Distributors and said he could make build it for £833..

CPU -Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Cooler - Corsair H55 57.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Motherboard - MSI Z97-Gaming 3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

SSD - Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

HDD - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card - MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card

Case - Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply - Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Case Fan - Corsair Air Series AF120 Red 52.2 CFM 120mm Fan x2

There are changes that could be made, but it all depends on your own preference. Is your friend going to put it together as well? It looks solid enough, the SSD is a little small considering prices.

Well he recently built this himself.. see if im honest, i like the build but im just not sure i could pay for all of it at once..

The H55 isn't a great cooler, getting out-performed in temps and noise by modest air coolers.

Power supply is adequate I'd say, CWT aren't a fantastic OEM. I'd always recommend a unit made by either Superflower or Seasonic.

The SSD is adequate again - it's quite old now and slower that the latest drives.

Listen, in all honesty the build you've listed will be quicker than your old system. The price is what I'd expect to pay too. If it were my money I'd want to spend a little more to get a bigger and faster SSD, get some quicker RAM and a better power supply.

Yes the PSU is adequate, but leaves no room for upgrades and would not be a keeper. Something I would have in the cupboard for emergencies or leak testing.

It sounds like you want to save some money, I would make a hybrid of what you have already.

Your mobo is perfectly serviceable. Put your budget on a solid PSU, a GTX 970 or a new AMD card if decent, and SSD.

Find a second hand sandybridge or ivybridge K processor and a new, well reviewed cooler. You'll have a new system for half (ish) the price.

Ive got a question that id forgot to ask about the build ExRayTed Suggested.. Dont i need a sound board also or am i just being stupid ?

Also does OcUK offer any services where they build the pc instead of having the parts sent seperatly?
