Hey,
As the title says I'm a bit stuck.. I've recently been playing bf4 on this PC, its about stable on low fps I wanna try up it a bit. 45 - 60 fps on Siege of Shanghai :/

System Specification
- Case: Antec 300 Gaming Case
- Power Supply: OCZ ZS 750w PSU
- CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.40GHz Sandybridge CPU
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
- Cooler: Prolimatech Panther CPU Cooler
- RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Hard Drive: 500GB HDD
- Intel 330 Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
- Sapphire HD 7950 3072MB PCI-Express Graphics Card

I dont really have a price range.. Throw some numbers at me

Thanks

Hmm, im sure you cpu is good enough especially with that overclock.

I would just go for a better gpu?

Something like a 7970/680 (overclocked) or 770/780 or better yet 290/290x (possibly once custom coolers are available)

Cheers,
so only my GPU is letting me down? I can't quite understand how it's just steady on low?

Asus Radeon R9 290X 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card mm

Does your board do CF? If so get another 7950, never mind replacing it.
You should get a semi decent experience from what you have, is the GFX card clocked at all?

I I would upgrade gpu. I have the 2500k and its fine. On my 680 sli on uktra I get 90-130fps on lpw constint 200. Everything else is fine.

HIs board only supports Xfire at x16/x4

He would see some imporvement going Xfire but won't get the full performance of it due to his motherboard.

(it doesn't support SLI though, because that NEEDS x8 lane)

A GTX 780 may be a good shout (at low prices). :)

Are you getting 45-60 fps on low with that setup? Or am I reading it wrong, if the former then that isn't right at all, that chip and GPU isn't under powered in anyway and should perform quite well.

I can play single player on high/ultra. I have tinkered a bit and can play medium/high online, but still framedrops to around 50's when a lot of stuff is happening or even just looking into the distance off a skyscraper in Shanghai. Everything seems to be configured right.. I play on 1920x1080 60.00Hz

Well for some of us that may seem acceptable for others here are the numbers

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 290 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £329.99
1 x Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £263.99
Total : £605.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

I'd only for for a gpu upgrade tbh, but seriously try waiting for a month or two? until some better versions of the 290's come. Quieter, better performance and so on.

As it stands they are quite epic id love to get one but I myself am waiting for some nice asus/msi/sapphire versions of the 290

Thanks for the help guys.. What kind of performance would you think I'll be pushing out with the 290 & that processor on bf4?
May hold out, depends how itchy my fingers are aha

Edit: Also may get windows 8.1 heard gameplay is a lot smoother?
Edit 2:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-336-SP or stick to the normal 290?

Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail

Can anyone recommend a quality motherboard for this spec?^^

Basically wanna be running at ultra 60FPS above always.

I've never heard 50fps be described as low before. What's the big deal if it drops very briefly when looking into the distance... I fear this will happen on most setups.

I don't think spending £260 on a CPU is a good idea. Most games limiting factors are the graphics cards. I used to play most games on high with a [email protected] and a 6950.

Smart thing to do is keep what you have and accept it's not broken. If you want to spend cash, get some cool peripherals, speakers, headset, mouse, 2nd monitor etc. splash out on eyefinity... It's very good!

I might be a try hard aha, but I can't play the game. It's even when firefight is happening on medium, I can't play with those frame drops.. I see like youtubers anderz, frankieonpc, jackfrags ect all on ultra on parcel conquest large, having no trouble whatsoever.. I might as well treat myself!

I'll just use my old spec for my dads PC, early Xmas present

A 290 will easily have 60fps or more on bf4. Im using a 7970 matrix platinum overclocked and my fps range from 50-100+ (obviously depending on what's going on)

Im running at 1920x1080 everything maxed out.
290 sounds like a brilliant idea, as it's pretty much the best price to performance gpu out there.

Windows 7 and hitting 55-65 fps on bf4 maxed.
Bear in mind dice recommend windows 8, some people have shown that bf4 does better in bf4.
Personally i'd recommend a 280x x2 (you'd be looking at a minimum of £480 or so I believe)

Or the 290. But with the 290 surely you'd wanna wait until custom cooled ones come out? (thats what im waiting for)

I would seconds that.... But then again if you can push your budget then there's the 780ti. At stock it's on par with the 290 but overclocked it's miles ahead

//edit Bang per buck the 290 is the first choice
