Good afternoon.

I have had a Sony Ericcson W800i for over a year now and its time to get a new handset. I ordered this one online with Phones 4 U on the 02 network, since the contract has gone over a year I have had people from 02 ringing me asking if I want a new handset. As I want to keep my number what is the best option here? Do I have to order a new one online from Phones 4 U or can I walk into a 02 shop and upgrade my contract just like that? Also what do you guys recommend? I am not in mega rush for one so if a new one is coming out I should wait for thats not a problem.

Thanks in advance.

Basically if you are out of commitment (the 12 month period) you can literally walk into any store that deals with o2 and do a straight upgrade.. putting you under commitment for another 12 months (that is if you're happy with your contract and stick with the same tariff and just update the handset).

..You can of course pop into an o2 store and discuss the options or go to your original dealer.

But bare in mind doing an upgrade means they are renewing the commitment period, but if you haven't been going over your tariff much stick with it, it would also be worth looking at your bills and asking about a tariff change.. as in a year tariffs change quite a bit. You may even be able to save some money.

Phone wise depends on what you use it for really.. like if you want a good camera and all the other features to boot go for something like the K800i.. or if you're in no hurry wait for the K810i which is just on the horizon.

If you want to stick with a walkman branded and geared up phone go for something like the W850i or the W880i depending on your preference of features/size etc. Those are just a few SE phones I'd recommend, obviously would be worth checking out the Nokia equivalents also. Really comes down to personal preference and what the phones going to be used for mainly.

;)

Well I have an Ipod so I hardly make use of the walkman on it and I think my contract is supposed to be £35/m but I always go over on texts and its normally about £45-50/m. I think I need a word with them about tariffs as my minutes never get used up but texts always go over. Ive just been reading the forum and the N95 looks very nice (and check that camera out  ). It also looks a bit pricey so I might wait a month or two.
