I upgraded not too long ago too...

Intel core 2 duo 4300 (clocked to 3ghz)
Artic Freezer 7 Pro
Asus 650i Sli Mobo
Giel 6400 2g Value Ram
His readon x1950 pro 256mb
Corsair 540w HK PSU

Other than than i have two IDE hardrives making up 200gig (160/40)
A simple DVD disk drive
Got and oldish icute case

My question is what would you guys suggest i look to upgrade from here, i use my pc for gaming?

or should i consider getting vista instead of a hardware upgrade?

vista and an 8800/r600(when it's out)

I'd sit tight for a month or so, if you can. R600 and Nvidia refresh are coming soon. Wish I could wait...

Or, buy an EVGA card and step-up later.

Be a better choice as you're a gamer. No improvement just changing OS for games (if not even a slight loss!).

Well other than im running win 2000 atm *runs for cover.

lol but i will be upping to xp in the next few days.

Looks like il sit and wait for a graphics upgrade then guys, thanks.

SATA hard drive perhaps if you are running out of space, neater cabling and nominally faster but in actual terms the graphics card would be the single biggest improvement you could make.

If you want the reasoning it is because any replacement CPU would have to be given a fairly hefty overclock just to compete and wouldn't matter to games much. Upgrading to 4gb Ram isn't wise if you aren't running Vista since 32bit OSes don't tend to see all of it and most games don't need it. The sundry components make little overall difference to gaming ergo a graphics card upgrade is the obvious choice as there are GPUs that are a generation ahead of yours now. :)

Most useful, thanks for the info.

I rekon i will look at a new gpu first then in the near future upgrade to vista/ 4gig ram/ sata hd and a new cpu if there is any need :)
