1. Will the Ram work
2. Is it just plug and play?
3. Will I notice a large increase in peformance (background detail below)

Cheers

basically I'm running XP on the following system

AMD 2Ghz (Roughly)
512mb Ram (2 x 256mb sticks)
ATI radeon 9000 128mb AGP

the rest is irrelevant

Anyway this pc is mostly used as a media centre outputting on a 27inch HD TV, as you can imagine the above spec does not handle this very well, but does a passable job, though I would like to add some new RAM to boost the performance

In theory it should just be a case of plug and play, tho you may need to set the correct voltage (and the 2.55v-2.85V listed on the site isn't exactly helpful. Try 2.7v to start with).

Any yeah you'll notice a big difference going from 512mb to 2gb, tho it's debatable if you need as much as 2gb for a media centre.

how does that video card handle running such a big monitor?

i'm not criticising here i am just wondering, because that's quite an old card isn't it?

yeah would I be better going for a stick of 1 gig ram, then upgrading to 2 if and when i need it (would only lose £5 when not buying them together)

As for the gfx card, it runs suprisingly well actually, can play call of duty 1, sim city 4, half life 2 etc all on the tv, don't know what resolutions but it looks great, not that it's used much for gaming

As standard web browsing and dvd stuff its great, and no fan so it's silent
