Thinking of upgrading my pc, It can handle pretty much anything right now excluding oblivion maxed out which i don't really care about, but with crysis just over the corner I was wondering just how far overclocking my cpu which i haven't done yet, getting an extra 2 gig of memory and getting another gtx when the price drops, which i'm assuming will be in about 2 months time. If anyone has any non-wallet destroying solutions they'd like to suggest that'd be great though.

Cheers.

I think getting an extra 2gb of ram will see a big increase in crysis performance. It looks to be a memory hog.

If you want to overclock you may need to get a new cooler for your cpu. Try the tuniq 120 tower. Its one of the best coolers and is cheaper then the thermalites and doesn't need lapping like many of them do!

arctic pro 7, I was wondering about the sli, but should I be looking at improving my card right now, I'm aware that there's nothing wrong with it but still if the price drop is significant I can't help thinking about getting another one.

You can do whatever you like, but it's still a waste of money, especially with your CPU at stock.

If you don't feel like overclocking, you could switch to one of the faster CPUs like the E6850, even though that isn't a particularly good use of money either.

SLI and CRoss fire really isn't worth it unless you have a huge screen. By the time the GTX is being chalanged enough to need two of them new cards will be out and its always better to go for the single powerful card option as not all games will support sli and sometimes it has bad drivers for games etc.

:EDIT: LOl i feel like im stalking you billy

I will definitely be overclocking, thanks for the warning about SLI though, so An extra 50 quid spent on memory would go a long way I'm assuming. I have a 22" screen i dunno if that counts a huge.

Unless running at 30" id not bother with SLI.

Get a turniq tower, some artic silver and another 2 gb of ram and youll see a nice performance boost via overclocking and 4gb of ram., I presume you have vista 64bit?

There are very few issues now. They are being ironed out. At the start there was. Now there is drivers for everything it seems. Creative have drivesr at last for their sound cards etc.

Check the drivers page of things you use to make sure. 4gb of ram is a very nice boost in speed. 64bit also processes things faster. I only recently put up a post about 64bt where Bit-TECH did an article on all the benefits. You should read through it.

Oh noes, I'm being forum-stalked!

If you want to go to 4 GiB RAM you'll need a 64-bit OS. With RAM as cheap as it is it would be a relatively cheap upgrade.

Cool cheers guys, was a lot of help, looks like i won't be spending half as much cash as i thought i would be.

Well you could spend it on other things im sure if you wanted to spend it. New speakers etc lol. Spend spend lol. Could try doing some raid 0. Or water cooling for even more extreme overclocking :)

Well I'm a student so, I basically have no money most of the time, If i did have the money I'd buy a new screen, the belinea 22" packs in after about 9 months, i'm still trying to see if i can get a replacement.
