Hi everybody :)

Just hoping somebody can help me :)

This is my PC spec

The whole PC runs great etc but I want an upgrade. I'm just wondering how much I'd get if I sold a machine like that and how best to sell it? Ie. In parts or whole or whatever :) I mean which part is the weakest link ? :)

I'm basically after a big fps increase so maybe people think I might not need to sell the machine just upgrade a few parts. Any advice would be great.

I'd personally revamp the whole machine. Go for an Intel C2D and an nVidia 8800GTS and you'll see a nice big FPS boost.

I'd say the PC-3200 is pretty weak, and the Opteron is so-so.
 
What is your budget here? An upgrade to the CPU, Ram, motherboard and graphics card will give the biggest boost but if you can't afford it then I'd opt for something like this which allows you to re-use the old Ram and graphics card. Because of the limitations of the motherboard it probably won't overclock very well but it will still be an improvment and allows you to upgrade in stages as necessary. I'm not sure I agree about PC3200 being weak though, as far as I'm aware the difference in performance between DDR and DDR2 is fairly minimal overall considering the headline figures. :)

I didn't realise my system was so rubbish ouch! How much would I get for it if I sold it all ? My budget is like £400 quid. but i don't know how to build anything or take much of a pc... I certainly wouldn't know how to put a new cpu in or anything like that ! ouch!

Yep I remember paying around £140 for a opteron 144 in my first build. And now they sell for £30 - £40. I would pay around £40 myself for the DFI board as I am in the market for a 939 board my self :). You not get much for the ram as well as DDR2 is where it's at now and 2Gb sets of that can be picked up for £70. Give me a bell on msn if you want some more info ;).
