Hi,

In a few weeks im thinking of upgrading my current PC to an i7 rig.

I currently have a Core2Duo and 8800GTX. My current PSU is a "580W HIPER HPU4M580 PSU" the spec which can be found here:

http://www.hipergroup.com/products.php?lv=4&cate=1&type=7&pid=15&action=Specification

Would this PSU still be up to the job to run the following PC setup:

Along with the above parts i would have 1 other 1TB HDD and 1 DVD Writer

If the above is no longer suitable, could anyone reccomend me a suitable PSU. There seems so many in the market that all do the exact same lol.

Thanks,

Lee

if its running the gtx i cant see it would be a problem, how old is the psu ?

It was bought in July 2007. I mean i wouldnt be too fussed about buying a new one, they just seem to be more expensive these days than they used to be. The product ranges are a lot larger too. Im lost in a sea of PSU's

Thanks siumatfung, ill take a look.

2 years should be ok, to be on the safe side have a look at the coolermaster and bequiet psus 600w should be fine for a 295 gfx card and the rest.

No, the GTX 295 needs 1x6pin and 1x8pin PCI-E connectors. You have 2x 6pin

Ahh correct you are! Cheers for pointing that out! New PSU it is. Cheers.

Thanks also mp260767, the coolermaster ones with the tidy/thin wiring seems good. Has anyone got one who can confirm it is tidy wiring?

You could keep your PSU and go 2X 4770 512MB for half the price and not that far off the 295 performance, perhaps 20% slower?
