Upgrading... Should I change my MB?

Hey all,

I currently have the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 motherboard.
It's quite old but has served me quite well for it's time.

My current specs are in my sig, and I plan to upgrade:
- CPU
- RAM
- GFX Card
- Case

And eventually I will be adding watercooling. I will also be overclocking the CPU and GFX Card.

So... should I change my motherboard? And what advantages would I get over changing it?

Thanks,
Marky

Its possible the intel 965 would play nice with the 45nm wolfdales, though @ 1066 FSB not the chips rated 1333. For this you're going to need a new motherboard, and since you've decided on a 3870X2 on the other post, I'd personally suggest a X38 board for the dual X16 PCIe 2.0 lanes it provides, thus when drivers mature you will be able to upgrade and get a second for quad crossfire. Not only that the X38 overclocks 20% ish better than the P35 as the binning on the chips is a bit better.

The 1066MHz strap on the GA-P965 boards is set very high so overclocking with 1333MHz CPUs is potentially going to be a bit limited.

I'd definitely suggest a P31 or P35 board instead. They're all pretty decent - just pick the cheapest one with all the features you want.

Im currently plan on grabbing:

- E8400 Core 2 Duo
- 4GB Crucial RAM
- 3870x2 1GB GFX Card
- Antec P182

And I've decided due to overclocking, I'm going to grab a new MB.
The question is though... which :p

I won't be going SLI or Crossfire (Except for the two GPUs on the 3870x2)
And please also note I will be adding water cooling later on.
