I have a 780 classy. During game play it hits 73c+

Looking @ GALAX GeForce GTX 980 SOC Gamer 4096MB or Inno3D GeForce GTX 980 "Herculez X3 Ultra" whats the difference? I want a cooler card. Don't mind 2-10 fps! Is the Inno3D GeForce GTX 980 "iChill Herculez X4 Air Boss Ultra worth anoter £55?

Thanks

I have the 780 inno x3 and the cooler is a 3 slot mass of cooling goodness, while gaming I rarely see it go over 40% fan speed and only reaches 65c.

That's at 1189 core and 6200 memory so although not a 980 (which is cooler anyway) then yeah the cooler is quiet and well made.

The Herculez X3 is the one i'd go for. By all accounts, the Herculez X3 Ultra is a very good cooler. See links on how well it performs on the 780

73C isn't going to affect the 780.

If you are that worried about as low a temp as 73C is going "kill your card", why not actually wait till 780 actually die, then send it off to EVGA for rma and you'd most probably get are 970/980 as replacement, rather than selling your 780 Classy and get a 980 leaving you £220-£250 out of pocket?

I am guessing he is referring to the fan noise at 73 degrees. If you want a new toy go for it. Only you know what you want, check reviews of games you play etc
I would not do it personally for your reasons but as I said each to there own.

With the massive classy cooler being much bigger then most other 780 coolers then I highly doubt it going be loud..

The ACX Classified cooler has considerably bigger dissipation surface compared to standard two slot coolers. This was possible by designing a custom PCB, which is about 3cm higher and 1.5cm longer than reference.
The card is about 28cm in length, or 11 inches. A huge heatsink was placed on top of entire PCB, and the cooler can dissipate roughly 450W of heat without generating a lot of noise in the process.

Yep, I wouldn't "upgrade" at all. You won't notice any difference. Re: cooler running card, get a 780 classified hydrocopper waterblock. Works great. I have one which I am not using and can sell if needed.

Running two 780's here, top one will hit 79c sometimes and throttle. Simply upped the temp limit to 84c and no more bother. Luckily though now that its a bit cooler it only gets to 74c. Bottom one usually 60-65c. Pretty tightly spaced in my board in sig.

It's the noise! I have 3 inputs 2 out. Specs in sig. How would set it up? Cheers

"It's the noise!" - l take it you mean the 780 or with case fans as well?

Far better have 3 outputs = 2 fans in roof with 1 rear/2 inputs front, are the fans all 140mm?

750D-Radiator and fan compatibility compatibility:
- Top: 3 x 120mm or 2 x 140mm
- Front: 2 x 140mm or 2 x 120mm (2 x 140mm included)
- Bottom: 2 x 120mm
- Rear: 1 x 140mm or 120mm (140mm included)

You could make a fan profile for your 780 if it does not go above 73'c gaming, etc try reducing the GPU fan rpm till the temps rise less noise.

Going up 1 or 2 degree's is not going to kill the card but the noise level will drop.

This is what l use to do with my air cooled GPU's

If its the case fans as well fan controller or fan cable Low-Noise Adaptors.

My son will get this. He has my old 5850 2gb vapour x. He will be more than happy:D
