I wouldn't run a 3080 off a 500W PSU. Remember that you need power for the CPU, the motherboard, and the storage devices.

No, it would be the most illogical upgrade.
OP, the 3080 is rather power hungry and doesn’t conform to industry spec. Nvidia pull dangerous amounts of power and produce incredible amounts of heat. This isn’t a product like the 1080 and you need to build a system around the card. Even forgiving the issues with the card the performance isn’t anything to write home about either.
You also need a very highend Ryzen 5000 system to get the advertised performance. The RTX 3080 isn’t a drop in and forget product for casual users.
How did I contradict myself as I never recommended a 500w psu to the OP.Neither would I, it wasn’t meant to be taken seriously. Joxen contradicts himself again.
