Hi,

At the moment my PC is nearly five years old. I have two drives a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache which my games on. I also have a Corsair 120GB Force GT SSD - 2.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s which Win 7 is installed on. I did have some games on but had to move them to the other drive due to lack of space.

I've updated my Bios on my MB and bought a new MSI 970 graphics card and fitted a better cooler for my MB.

I was about to reinstall Win 7 since I don't think my PC is running as fast as I believe it should. But it seems you can buy a decent size SSD for a good price.

I'm undecided which one though ?

Ideally I'd want to run three Hard drives (keep the two I've got). One for the OS, games and storage respectively.

My question is whether this is ideal with my set-up ? I think a 400-500 GB drive would be ideal ?

Thanks for your help

J :-)

i have a 1Tb samsung evo 840 drive. It's quick and comes with good utilities. I've written 20 Tb onto it so far and it's still workin fine. I got it for around £240

I really don't want to spend much over £100 so a 500 GB might be a good bet. The Samsung looks good. I see quite a variation in prices though. Toshiba drives seem quite cheap compared to the rest. I'm also a bit wary since there are a few bad reviews (all makes of SSD) on the net. So there must be a fair percentage of drives thatt don't last a long time ?

Thanks

J

Another vote for the samsungs (I have five of them) but if the Sandisk drives are really that cheap then they are probably worth the punt

I can vouch for he SanDisk ssd plus. I use the 120GB version in my laptop and it is very fast. My desktop with a Samsung 830 is not noticeably quicker despite having a quad core 4.7Ghz 3570K vs a dual core (with hyperthreading) 2520m 2.5Ghz.
