I'm thinking of upgrading to the E6600 bundle with the asus P5B deluxe board and 2 gig of geil ram, at the moment i have a AMD64 3800 newcastle. msi K8n neo 4 motherboard, 2 gig of ram, X1800xt 512. my power supply is a enermax 460W. would this power supply be ok with the new chip and board.

yeshems, just dont get ****y and splash out on anything more, cos i think that would be the limit for your psu tbh.

I recently bought an E6600 + 8800gts (320mb) 2 gig geil ram, 1 hdd (some have multiple) and mine seems totally fine on my 430w PSU from a previous spec pc.

Get the P5B-E Plus for £88, it's an excellent overclocker and has all the features of the deluxe apart from the wireless card as far as I'm aware.

Depends how long you had it? It may now be only an enermax 360W

Electrolytic Capacitor Aging
When used heavily or over an extended period of time (1+ years) a power supply will slowly lose some of its initial wattage capacity. We recommend you add 20% if you plan to keep your PSU for more than 1 year, or 25-30% for 24/7 usage and 1+ years.

Woah. There was me thinking my 500W seasonic would last me 5 years! Those figures seem pretty harsh! Is that on full load, I'm guessing for idling and general office work would increase the no. of years?

Hi, my Antec NeoHe 550watt, made by seasonic, is still powering my system just fine after 3 years. I've never seen any scientific evidence to state that PSU's loss their power..
