Hey everyone,

Looking to pickup a decent monitor now after nearly a decade of PC gaming on a TV. The two I have narrowed down to is the Dell S2716DG and the Acer XB271HU.

Looking at both the main important difference besides the price is one uses a TN panel and one uses the IPS. I'm not to clued up on the panel differences but they both seem to have their own pros and cons.

I'm leaning more towards the Acer, but is it worth the extra 100 quid though?

Cheers :D

Sorry to steal your thread, but also after a new monitor myself as my secondary one at the moment is turning itself off and one.

I can get a second hand rubbish 22" Dell TN which I sold to a friend ages ago or upgrade and get a new 27" primary. My current one is 24" so I just keep going bigger and bigger :D

I was looking at these two:

I have an NVidia card so I assume the freesync would be wasted?

The Acer in the OP is quite nice however it is a lot more expensive. Is it worth getting that one over one of these two?

Will probably go for a drive to OCUK tomorrow to pick one up as my secondary is starting to annoy :D

yea, i'm also leaning more towards the Acer.. Both panels seem to come with their own issues and advantages but the IPS screens just sound much better than the TN overall.

Yea i watched that video last night, and was one of the video's that made me lean more towards the Acer tbh as I could clearly see the improvements with the IPS.. Saying that though the Dell's TN screen still looks very good which is why i'm struggling to make a final decision :)

At this rate I might just flick a coin as id probably be happy with either. :p

fyi.. went with the Dell as it seems to be the most recommended at the moment and stocks were shrinking fast as a result. Now i just gotta wait, very excited to see the difference coming from a FullHD TV ;)

received my Dell today and just wow this monitor is great. Going from 1080p TV for many many years to this is just plain amazing :) loving the higher frame rates with G-Sync.

I do seem to have 1 stuck pixel though but it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Defo made the right choice i feel :)

Cheers for your help guys
