Planning on doing some upgrades in the future, 1 of which is upgrading to SSD.

Unfortunately I don't know much about SSD's, I'm assuming they're just plug and play? My motherboard is a Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58.

I'm aiming to buy 2 SSD's, a 120gb for Windows and a 480gb for games and programs, just had a quick look and I like the looks (and price) of these Kingstons.

Samsung 850 Evo

I'd just go for a single SSD unless you want two of them..

The reason many people have one SSD for OS and one SSD for games is the price that the larger drives used to be.

Before a 128GB SSD was ~£100, 512GB was ~£700, so it made sense to buy multiple smaller drives.

Now I'd just get a 512GB, partition it into 128GB for OS and use the rest for Steam.

Basically one has a 10 year warranty one has a 5 year warranty, you wouldn't notice any speed difference outside of benchmarks.

I'd save your cash and get the Evo.

850 evo is a good drive, best of the TLC SSDs and I would just get the one SSD for now. Prices have been dropping quite a bit for SSDs every year so far.
Also like to add that larger capacity SSD have better performance than lower ones.
e.g. 500gb 850 evo > 120gb 850 evo

Thanks for the replies.

Look at the prices, think I'll treat myself to a 250gb for Windows and a 500gb for games. :D
Edit*
Just noticed these don't come with cradles or cables, can you point out which ones I need?

They use the same cables as other SATA hard drives. SATA data cables you will to buy is you don't have any spare. Your power supply may have spare SATA power cables coming out of it, if not you will have to get molex to SATA cables.
Depending on your computer case or choice you may not need cradles (assuming you mean 2.5" to 3.5" bracket). I know people who just stuck the drives down with velcro or leave them lying in the case since they have no moving parts to worry about.

cables don't matter, just buy the cheapest as they are all just as fast sata2/3

remember to set both sata controllers from ide to ahci on that board, you'll have one for the marvel sata3 ports and one for the intel ports (set to ahci before you install windows)

you wont see rated speeds either as early marvel ports are poor in comparison to modern intel sata3 ports but tbh you wont tell any difference
