Ok I have a new Wireless N router running DD-WRT, however the signal for my pc is horrible. I'm currently using a very olw wireless D dongle thats sitting on my desk useing a USB extending cable.

What I want to know is, is it worthwhile getting a wireless N card, given that it will be at the back of a big metal case, in the far corner of the room under a desk. Or would it be best to stick with a wireless N dongle and get it up on the desk in a slightly more "open" area.

To clarify, I have a corner desk, furthest corner of the house to the router as you can get, and the back of the Pc points at that corner so its in a quite confined area.

Don't go for the internal card! I had the same situation and found that the case completely blocked the signal. I'd say stick with the dongle on the extension.

go for an internal IF the router is behind under or ontop of where your pc is,if its infront it starts to lose signal, however there are rangebooster antena (20cm long costing around £2 each) and if i part them sticking out either side of the case i get perfect signal :)

Possibly. If it uses a standard card then, yes, it can be swapped for a wireless N card. I did this in a netbook some time ago. Problem is that the aerial in the notebook won't be designed for wireless N so you may not get the full performance increase.
