My poor old +2500 barton @ 2hz is looking a bit old and tired now, i think he's dreaming about retiring, eating werthers originals, smoking pipes and wearing those tartan booties old people wear :)

It's time to upgrade, I've just been having a look through the processor section on ocuk, are the 64 x2 dual cores good for overclocking?

Any particular chip, board etc?

Don't bother with X2 if you are gonna upgrade to a tally new system. Core2Duo or even Quad core is where its at now.

You really want a core 2 duo, either nforce 650 or 680i mobo and some reasonable ram as these boards allow for dividers so not such an issue. Intel is performing much better and even the cheap e6300's are good, so intel is the way!

Basically as little as possible, lol..

After looking before, i'm going to need:

Chip
Board
Ram
Sata Drive
Probably some sort of pci express graphics card

Thats why i'm looking down the amd route, my barton has been fine for me as i dont play pc games, it's just to keep up with technology, run boinc and use for the net, mp3's, videos etc etc

Why not get something like this if on a tight budget, you should get 3ghz+ from overclock if got a bit more cash to spend upgrade the ram 1gig kit to 2 gig.
