But which is more exiting? clothes or electrical gadgets? clearly gadgets :p

The price of women's clothes and make up, for what it is, is stupid, I would never spend as much money on clothes and make up as women do

Obviously gadgets! I guess we all have our vices, I rarely spend any money on drink/drugs, as I am constantly spending it on electronic entertainment. I clearly need to get out more!

what i do is max out my system so it will last at least another 5-6 years (see my sig), then I will upgrade again. Unless there is some super bad ass component on the market :p I just upgraded last month.

I developed a nasty bout of Sonositis a few months ago which left me squeaking when I walked. Have recently gone into self-imposed rehab over it though. PC related upgraditis has also been kept at bay for about 4 years.

Picked up an ex-demo Denon 2310 before crimbo for £250 so I guess that was a bit like getting physio on the NHS rather that a private clinic :)

I never understand this thinking, I think you'd be better halfing the money and buying twice as often in most cases.

As for upgradeitis, I have an old computer that played most the new games at the time (crysis, fallout etc) with an 8800gt and have had that rig running for 3 years. No intentions to upgrade it.

yea ur right, 5-6 is a bit optimistic lol. 2-4 years maybe?

Oh I have had a bad case of that recently, just bought some Custom IEM's some full size headphones and a mix amp - £700

Used to be terrible for this. So for a year I kept my PC and actually put aside the money I would have saved on upgrades in £10 notes in a box.

At the end of the end of year I was like  haha.

Nope, I stopped caring about 5/6 years ago.

I only open case when cpu retards itself to about 5mhz due to heat/dust.

Computing apathy for the win!

Yep, most computer hardware suffers from terrible depreciation.

It's better to spend your money on things that last longer and are more 'timeless' so to speak (monitors, audio equipment, etc.). I've had my monitor for four years, speakers for three years, etc. Neither has been superseded by new models with substantially different functionality, are still 'top of the line' and both command ~50% of their original retail value on the second hand market :D

I used to have Hi-Fi upgradeitis. At least the PC version is cheaper :D

I've got PC upgradeitis bad though :(

In the last 18 months I've upgraded:-
Case twice, CPU twice, GPU three times, PSU twice, cooler twice, motherboard, SSD, mouse, and loads of fans and other bits. I suppose technically it's not the same PC any more, although it still has the same HDD and sound card!

The problem is if I manage to stop, I'll just move on to something else :)
