UPS collection no receipt?

Just had UPS collect a packgage (laptop) which I booked through Interpacel, he scanned the label but offered no receipt and had no paperwork or anything to give me when I gave it to him. Now I am worrying a bit that he could have pretended to scan it or something without actually putting it through the system.

I have phoned UPS and they said it will update at some point, but needless to say alarm bells are ringing.

Has anyone had something collected from UPS but was not given a receipt or paperwork?

Thanks

Happened to me with FedEx. They refused an insurance claim :(

I sugget you get in touch with them via email and get it in writing that your parcel was collected and is still insured.

I rang again to speak to another UPS call agent and she just said that they scan the barcode (shipping labels from Interparcel) but give no receipt or paperwork.

I have also emailed Interparcel. I mean it might all be ok but in the back of your mind when you hear parcels going missing etc it makes you panic a little.

what does tracking say?
do you have some tracking numbers?

I have a tracking number from Interparcel but has not updated to say it's been collected (might just be slow at updating). The only proof I have is I payed for the courier. If UPS provide no paperwork or receipt how can anyone prove that there package was collected?

This is strange indeed, maybe they've just updated the process?

Try calling interparcel and asking whether it's ok for this to happen?

It's normal for UPS to not give a receipt. Once it's been scanned it'll be on their system.

It'll update eventually, don't panic.

If Interparcel is like Parcel2Go, you are usually supposed to print off the receipt yourself, the courier then signs it.

This. And to be honest the UPS system may not update until the driver gets back to the depot at around 18:30 depending on whether his PDA scanner has a network connection.

The UPS tracking system takes quite a while to update, check at about 10pm tonight and i bet its on its way.

I had a parcel collected by UPS 2 weeks ago and got a receipt

I had a Dell monitor collected a few weeks ago by UPS.

The driver gave me a receipt.

This is whats worrying me, there is no way to prove I gave UPS a package. The only proof I have is a small video from phone showing a UPS truck leave my house :o

It seems so easy for parcels to go missing if they wanted to.

If i was a courier who was considering parcel theft, i wouldn't give you a receipt. I'd probably log the collection as "sorry were out" & hide a card safely down a drain too.

You could easily pretend to scan the package but don't actually process it through.

when i asked for a receipt they acted like it was the first time someone ever asked for one.
you would think this would be ripe for abuse.

This is what got me worrying a little, especially as the laptop was not cheap (cost £850) and despite taking insurance out for the delivery, if it were to go missing before UPS supposedly having it in there possesion I would not have a case to argue with.

It seems the tracker has updated now so feel relived a bit. I actually found some information here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/ups-anyone-used-them-to-send-a-parcel-838599 and others say UPS leave no receipt or paperwork.

I am not a dishonest person by any means but can you image if one day one of the workers were annoyed with there boss or something, they could take it out on the customers. You could so easily knock on the door to get the collection, pretend to scan it through and take the item, keep it for yourself and say that the person was not in ie no answer at the door.

Maybe I just dont trust the technology all the time, I feel more comfortable knowing I can prove myself should I need to then rely on some barcode scanner.
