UPS gave my parcel to someone who doesn't exist. (got it back)

So the UPS guy left my parcel at "Residential" according to the tracking. I live in an apartment and I asked all my neighbors and apparently none of them have signed for it.

So I did some detective work and nobody in this building has a surname SUGDEN.

This parcel is a pretty expensive Christmas gift for my little sister and they've just give it to anyone! I'm ********************.

What's UPS customer service like...?

It's irrelevant what UPS's customer service is like, you are not their customer.

Contact the people you bought the item from, that's who you have the contract with, UPS ballsing up is their problem not yours.

do you have a communal entrance with an intercom system? if so try the neighbours next to that entrance.

I used to live next to a communal entrance and often had couriers knocking on my door.

I always tried to track the people down on facebook so they knew where it was ,if the courier couldn't gain entrance then if was impossible for them to have carded anyone.

Never had a reply on facebook thanking me from any of them , never a thank you when they collected..

even though it as clearly them in the profile pictures.

That sucks, maybe they were expecting you to deliver it to their door.

I've always been very grateful to neighbours who have received packages for me while I'm out.

Last time ups did that to me I phoned them say no one in this block has X last name, driver gave me a description of the person turns out was a guy 2 floors down who had tried to keep my item by giving a false name

Yeah I always say thank you to my neighbors for taking delivery of my parcels but this time I haven't even got a card to tell me where it is. That would have helped 1000%.

Did you have to confront him about it? Did you get it back?

I've just been and knocked on a couple of houses and nobody is answering even though the lights are on, sigh.

Would it be worth it to post a note through their door? We have another block of flats next door too but none of them answer their intercoms.

Ah fair, I guess he can't lie about his description haha.
I honestly don't think someone has stolen it, I have really nice neighbors (mostly old folk). Oh well **** happens I'm not gonna dwell on it, it's not the end of the world I'll just get things delivered to my mum's house in future.

Decided to try them in my local co-op for the first time, was only a £9 item so not too much risk if it went **** up. I must say I was very impressed, I got a text at 9:10am telling me my package was in the locker and ready, went down and sure enough it was sat there all alone - great service!

Was it an apple item? I think it was UPS who ripped off an iphone delivery to a my mother - item was tracked as delivered to the house and signed by a signature not remotely like hers, and at a time and day where she was at home all day....

Outcome - phone call to apple and they sent another new one next day, UPS scumbag profits on the back of apple...

Why do you even have to bother going to so much effort to get the item? Surely if no one claims to have it, it is completely UPSs liability, they should be doing the chasing up.

they should take a photo of the guy that signs unless it is the exact address the parcel was intended for.

I had a parcel go missing from yodel (£200) car stereo, the seller asked for a scanned copy of my drivers license as I told them it was not my signature the tracking showed and they sent another out.
